How to find products without photos in an Excel SKU list

Check the source before checking the list

Use a catalog that covers the products you want to review. For a folder source, confirm the folder, filename rules and exclusions, then run Reindex if files have changed. For a database source, test the connection and photo-path mapping.

First try one SKU for which you know a photo exists. If that lookup fails, fix the source or matching rules before running a large list. Otherwise, a configuration problem can make available photos appear to be missing.

Create the availability report

1. Open the workbook containing your SKU list. Select the code cells and leave the column heading out.
2. Choose Check photos from the SkuGallery ribbon. Keep the workbook open while the check runs.
3. Read the summary and filter the Status column to focus on Missing photos or Error.
4. Expand the + above the grouped columns when you need the file details. Save the workbook to keep the report.

The report includes photo counts and, where available, seasons, colours and filenames. Your source photos are not deleted or changed.

Turn each status into an action

OK: the configured source returned matching photos. Review the actual pictures if the catalog needs a particular angle, colour or resolution.

Missing photos: no matches were found in that source. Check the SKU, filename rules and index before requesting new photography.

Error: the lookup could not complete. Check the connection, permissions or source availability and retry. An error does not prove that the product has no photo.

Example: a list for an upcoming offer

Suppose an illustrative three-row list contains SKU001, SKU002 and SKU003. If SKU001 is OK, SKU002 is Missing photos and SKU003 is Error, investigate the catalog entry for SKU002 and the lookup failure for SKU003 separately.

After correcting the source or adding photos, reindex the folder when applicable and run the check again. The saved report is a snapshot of that check, not a continuously updated inventory.
